From the historical significance of Ile-Ife and the development of other Yoruba kingdoms and communities, royal institutions have remained important custodians of Yoruba history, identity and cultural continuity.

As generations of Yoruba people migrated beyond their ancestral communities through trade, education, employment, marriage, professional opportunities and wider human movement, Yoruba culture travelled with them.

AOYAD does not seek to replace or compete with established Yoruba kingdoms, legitimate royal palaces or traditional councils.
